"The Music I Play, In the place I Live"

Toujours curieuse de developper de nouveaux concepts, AOLF propose du 3 au 15 mai 2016 le projet : « EthnoFrance : J'habite ici, ma musique y vit ».
Une vingtaine de musiciens internationaux sont invites a se rencontrer, porteurs de leurs cultures et de leurs vecus, de leurs instruments et de morceaux de leurs patrimoines qu'ils souhaitent partager avec les autres. Au terme de leurs echanges, ils offriront un spectacle inedit autour de ces cultures en reinterpretant ces repertoires, sous forme d'orchestre ephemere.
Au dela de la creation d'un concert prenant des airs de voyage musical, ces rencontres seront l'occasion, pour ces musiciens, l'equipe d'AOLF et tous ceux qui participeront, de pres ou de loin, a l'aventure, de questionner plus largement leurs cultures et leurs societes : les discussions porteront sur la place des musiques dites traditionnelles dans les societes contemporaines. Comment evoluent-elles ? Comment se metissent-elles ? Quels sont leur place et role dans les societes ? Qui les ecoutent ? Comment sont-elles percues et accueillies ?
Mais la particularite, cette fois-ci, porte sur le fait que les musiciens invites resident en Algerie, en Suede, en Palestine ou encore en France, mais ont un point commun : ils ont grandis avec la culture d'un pays du monde arabe. Dans leur pays d'origine ou exportees, les musiques vivent la ou vivent les musiciens : c'est par ce prisme que se derouleront les echanges autour des musiques traditionnelles. Cet echange international s'integrera dans le projet « Les Cultures du Monde Arabe a Massy », ville ou l'association reside desormais. Comme a l’habitude, de nombreuses interactions sont prevues avec les structures et les habitants de la ville, car pour AOLF : le projet c'est la rencontre ! Tout azimut ! Restez attentifs !

Always interested in experiment new concepts, AOLF will run the project « EthnoFrance: The music I play in the place I live » from the 3rd to the 15th of May 2016.
About 20 musicians from several countries will met each others, each one bringing his own culture and personal experiences, his intrument and some tunes from their own cultural background for sharing with the others. At least, they will present a new creation based on this cultures, reinventing this repertoires, with an ephemeral orchestra.
Further than the creation of a concert which is looking like a musical travel, this project is the oportunity for all the people who will participate more or less at this adventure to question their cultures and societies. Discussions will be based on the place of the traditional musics in our societies: How do they evolve? How do they mix up? Which roles and place have they in our societies? Who is listening this musics? How are they welcomed?
The specifity of this project is that the musicians are from Palestine, Sweden, Algeria and France... But all of them have something in common: they all grew up with the culture of an arabic country. In the arabic countries or in other countries musics live where the musicians are living! The musicians will exchange, using this common background : The music I play in the place I live !
This exchange is part of the global project « The Arabic World in Massy » run by the town, where AOLF is located. As in every projects, a lot of activities with local communities are planed because for AOLF: the project is the meeting and the exchange! Stay tuned!
